Funeral scheduled for girl found dead in Colorado

MONUMENT, Colo. -- The funeral for a girl who was found dead in the crawl space of a vacant home in Monument, Colo., will be Friday.

Genesis Sims' mother, Jopetia Garretson, plans to bury her daughter in New Jersey, according to television reports in Colorado Springs.

Garretson announced her plans through her Facebook page.

Construction workers doing renovations on a house in May found 9-year-old Genesis Sims, launching a nationwide manhunt for the girl's father, Hanif Sims, and his girlfriend, Monique Lynch. They were arrested in Henderson, Nev., in July.

Both face charges of child abuse resulting in death, concealing a body and tampering with evidence. Lynch faces a first-degree murder charge.
