GAME NIGHT NOTES – 3/18/08

Tonight the Wranglers and Aces meet for the fourth time this season and the 36th meeting overall. Las Vegas is 0-0-3 against Alaska this season and 19-12-4 all-time. The Wranglers defeated Utah 4-3 Saturday night, while Alaska won 8-3 in Bakersfield on Saturday. Las Vegas is 20-4-6 at home this season and 5-1-4 in the last ten games played overall. Alaska is 16-13-1 on the road this year and 8-2-0 in the last ten games played.

Last Time Out
The Las Vegas Wranglers edged the Utah Grizzlies 4-3 in front of 6,382 fans at the Orleans Arena on Saturday night. Captain Peter Ferraro netted the game-winning goal at 13:29 to complete a third-period comeback. Goalie Kevin Lalande tied a career-high with 41 saves on the evening. Las Vegas won its' 40th game of the season, marking the fourth time in five years the team has hit the 40-win plateau. Forwards Tyler Moseinko, Bruce Mulherin and Nathan Barrett each scored in the victory.

Right wing Peter Ferraro leads the team in scoring with 32 goals and 32 assists for 64 points in 59 games. Peter also leads the team with 206 shots on goal this season. Right wing Adam Cracknell is third in the team scoring race with 54 points and second with 28 goals. Cracknell and Ferraro are both within striking range of the team record for most goals in one season. Center Matt Dzieduszycki owns the team record after scoring 34 goals in 68 games during the 2005-06 season. Las Vegas has nine games remaining on the season with six of them at home. In order for the Wranglers to become the only team in ECHL history with three straight 100-point seasons, they must earn eight points out of a possible 18 (.400 winning percentage). After starting the season 20-2-4, Las Vegas is 20-9-8 over the last 36 games. The Wranglers are 2-5 in overtimes and 4-7 in shootouts this season.

Roster Report - Mosienko Called up to Bridgeport, Cole Recalled to Quad City, Miller Added
The Las Vegas Wranglers announced on Tuesday that center Tyler Mosienko has been signed by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL. The team also announced signed rookie forward Adam Miller. The Wranglers announced on Monday that defenseman Brad Cole has been recalled by the Quad City Flames of the American Hockey League.

Mosienko was second on the team in scoring with 57 points and 35 assists. Mosienko tied the team record with an assist in six straight games (February 29th - March 14th), set by center Greg Day during the 2003-04 season. Mosienko had his assists streak ended on Saturday night, but extended his scoring streak to seven games. In 134 games as a Wrangler, Mosienko has posted 40 goals and 69 assists for 109 points. The called up to Bridgeport marks his first stint in the AHL.

Cole leaves Las Vegas after playing in 19 games with four assists and 11 penalty minutes. The first-year blueliner also posted a +7 during his tenure with the Wranglers. Cole was undrafted out of juniors but was invited to Calgary's camp as a free agent in fall of 2007. He played in 19 games with Quad City earlier this season, registering one goal and two assists for three points. He is expected to play for the Flames tonight in Houston against the Aeros.

Miller will make his professional debut tonight against the Aces after wrapping up a four-year stint at Ferris State University. In 2007-08, Miller's senior season, the forward finished second on the team with 17 assists, 25 points and 104 shots on net in 36 games played. The 6-foot, 185-pound center finished his college career with 30 goals and 47 assists for 77 points in 146 NCAA contests.

Defensemen Gerry Burke and Gord Baldwin remain in the AHL with Quad City. Rookie center Curtis Fraser remains with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage. Defenseman Tyson Strachan still is in the American Hockey League with the Peoria Rivermen. Defenseman Jason Jozsa also remains on recall to Grand Rapids of the AHL.

Center Chris Ferraro, defenseman Sean Owens and left wing Shawn Limpright all remain on the injured reserve. Owens has been skating with the team for over a week and is expected to return soon. Limpright remains out until late April or early May. Ferraro has missed the last five games and is out indefinitely.

Green and Alaska Roll Into Vegas
Alaska is 9-1-0 in its last 10 road games and 16-2-0 in its last 18 games overall. Forward Josh Soares leads the team in scoring with 31 goals and 42 assists for 73 points in 52 games played. He is second in scoring among all ECHL rookies. The Aces feature defenseman Lee Green, who started his career with Las Vegas in 2005-06. Green was traded from Las Vegas to Reading in January of 2007. Green played in 89 games with Las Vegas, posting 14 assists and 18 points, to go along with 155 penalty minutes. Tonight's game, marks Green's first at the Orleans Arena as a member of the visiting team. Alaska is 23-1-2 when scoring first.

Goalies Chris Beckford-Tseu and Mike Brown split time between the pipes for Alaska. Beckford-Tseu last played against the Wranglers during the 2005-06 Kelly Cup Playoffs, leading the Aces past Las Vegas and on to win the Kelly Cup. Beckford-Tseu was 8-3 with three shutouts, a 2.04 goals against average and a .933 save percentage in the 2006 playoffs. He has spent the majority of the season in Peoria of the AHL and also played a game with the NHL's St. Louis Blues earlier this season.
