Gang member gets prison in drug case

A sixth member of the Playboy Bloods gang was sentenced to federal prison Friday for racketeering charges related to drug dealing.

Demichael Burks, aka "Mikey," 26, was sentenced to 6½ years in prison and three years of probation for pleading guilty to the charge. Burks admitted to operating drug houses in Las Vegas and distributing at least 83.2 grams of crack cocaine as a member of the street gang, according to a Department of Justice press release.

The gang primarily operated out of the Sherman Gardens housing complex at H and Doolittle streets.

Members of the gang have been involved in murder, robbery and drug trafficking, the release stated. Five others have also been sentenced to prison in the federal case.
