‘Grinch’ spends Christmas in jail
The irony is not lost on law enforcement authorities.
Vera Lopez, the "Grinch" prosecutors charged with stealing holiday toys and gift cards from needy children, spent Christmas behind bars.
The 41-year-old Lopez, so far, has been unable to post her $36,000 bail on the theft charges and is likely to begin the new year in the slammer, too.
A preliminary hearing on whether to bind her over for trial is set for Jan. 6 before Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Bill Jansen.
A jury might ultimately decide if Lopez, like the Grinch, is a mean one.
