Grizzlies looking to be first to 2-0
Memphis is trying to become the first 2-0 team in the Summer League, opening a 51-35 halftime lead over Milwaukee.
Lottery pick O.J. Mayo again had an impressive first half for the Grizzlies with 12 points and no turnovers. P.J. Tucker added 11 points and four rebounds.
Matt Lojeski made both of his 3-point attempts to lead Milwaukee with seven points. Eighth overall draft pick Joe Alexander missed his first five shots, but hit his final two to score five points in the half. UNR product Ramon Sessions, who had 21 assists in an April game for the Bucks, scored five points and added five assists. But he turned the ball over six times.
Brent Petway has yet to see any Summer League action for the Grizzlies, but he has become a fan favorite here. The Michigan alum spent last season in the D-League and won the league’s first slam-dunk title. He has showcased many extravagant dunks in the pregame layup lines. Each time he touches the ball, the crowd buzzes with anticipation. Unfortunately for him, playing time is not based on how impressive you dunk during warmups.
Two faces familiar to UNLV fans are now in the building. Stacey Augmon is watching this game, as is former Rebels coach Charlie Spoonhour. Spoonhour is smiling, so he must not know that the Cardinals' bullpen blew a 10th-inning lead in Pittsburgh tonight.
