Groups fail in bid to remove Ashjian from ballot

If there was legal doctrine entitled A Day Late and a Dollar Short, the Nevada Supreme Court this week would have cited it in dismissing an appeal seeking to remove Scott Ashjian’s name from next month’s election ballot.

The ballots are printed, testing of voting machines must be completed by the end of next week, and even if justices did reverse the lower court’s decision, the matter would still be mo

ot because it’s too late to effect a remedy. So said the court.

Thus, Ashjian, the unwelcome Tea Party candidate for U.S. Senate, is still in the race.
