Guida beats Diaz in split decision

Clay Guida has an edge over Nate Diaz of Stockton, Calif., and it's his shoulder length, wavy hair. It must be hard for an opponent to target, let's say, Guida's nose if he can't see it.

It also doesn't blend in with the crowd, which seems to rely on razors or clippers for grooming. Never saw so many shaved heads or buzz cuts.

Oh, well.

And now, a 155-pound, lightweight fight where Guida — known as The Carpenter — will try to make his home state of Illinois proud.

FIRST ROUND: Fast paced, Guida aggressive. Good knee by Guida. Diaz controlling center of the Octagon and lands a few right-handed jabs. Guida shoots for right leg.

Diaz shoots but Guida reverses and gets on top. Gets the back of Diaz and trying for rear naked choke; Diaz defends well.

Guida goes to ground-and-pound at 1:30, but Diaz able to stand. Guida picks up Diaz and flips him to his back.

SECOND ROUND: Diaz more aggresssive but slows to a clinch as they battle for control. Guida has left leg but fails for what looks like a high-crotch takedown.

Diaz gets Guidaуs back but only for a few seconds before Guida regains control. Diaz gains control with 10 seconds left.

Wolf says: Another round to Guida.

THIRD ROUND: Diaz comes out of his corner with his right upper cheek red. He doesn't seem able to match the quickness of Guida. Diaz raises his arms to the sky as if asking Guida to hit him. Most minutes for Diaz as he lands several body shots.

With 2:20 left, theyуre in a stand-up stalemate. Just under two minutes and Guida puts down Diaz, who quickly regains his feet.
