Halloween tradition to be continued

CARSON CITY -- Nevada first lady Dawn Gibbons plans to continue a tradition of handing out candy to trick-or-treaters on Halloween at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City.

The mansion has been decorated with pumpkins and all things spooky in a theme of "Phantom of the Opera."

Gibbons said a clown, marionettes, dancers and mimes will entertain people in line.

Former Gov. Grant Sawyer and his wife, Betty, began the tradition in 1959.

Trick-or-treating will begin around dusk on Oct. 31.
