Harrah’s execs to help distribute holiday turkeys

With casino companies struggling to keep their books balanced during the recession, some companies may not be feeling as charitable this holiday season as in the past.

That being said, Harrah’s Entertainment executives will hit the streets tomorrow in partnership with local activists to distribute 500 turkeys to area families.

The event will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Nevada Partners, 710 West Lake Mead Blvd. in North Las Vegas.

While top executive Gary Loveman is not scheduled to be there, other top executives, including Chief Financial Officer Jonathan Halkyard and Chief Marketing Officer David Norton, will attend.

Also in the group are vice presidents Karlos LaSane II, Marybel Batjer and Tony Gladney.

The Harrah’s Foundation paid out $1.5 million per week in 2006, which was generated from the company’s properties’ per-tax revenue.

With revenues down 4.3 percent through Sept. 30, the corporate giving matrix has probably taken a hit too.
