Hearings set on UMC care cuts

University Medical Center and Clark County officials will hold two public forums next week to solicit feedback about the future of the public hospital, including whether 10 patient care services should be shut down to save money.

The first forum will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.

A second forum will be held 10 a.m. to noon July 21 at the same location.

Earlier this year, UMC administrators cited 10 services for possible closure to trim the hospital's anticipated 2008 operating budget deficit.
