Heat warning hits valley this weekend
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning in Southern Nevada from 1 p.m. Saturday through 8 p.m. Monday.
High temperatures in Las Vegas are expected to reach at least 106 on Saturday and 108 on Sunday and Monday. Temperatures may hit 115 along the Colorado River Valley and 120 at Death Valley National Park.
Valley residents are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids and to stay out of the sun as much as possible to avoid heat-related illnesses.
