HELLO HEARTBURN: PICKLE EATING CHAMP DOWNS 4 POUNDS


Joe Larue from North Kentucky broke the world record Friday for the most pickles eaten in five minutes, eating exactly 4 pounds during the inaugural Pickle Eating Contest at The Mirage. He took home the grand prize of $1,000 cash. The previous world record was 3.15 pounds held by the founder of All Pro Eating and emcee of the event, Arnie “Chowhound” Chapman. Celebrity judges included Mirage headliner Terry Fator and his wife, Taylor Makakoa; Chef Rick Moonen of rm seafood at Mandalay Bay; Kevin Burke of "Defending the Caveman"; food writers Al Mancini and John Curtas; and cast members from "Thunder from Down Under" at Excalibur and "Fantasy" at Luxor.
