Henderson approves funding for police services study

The Henderson City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to pay the International City/County Management Association up to $80,000 to perform an independent analysis of police services.

City Manager Jacob Snow estimated the comprehensive study, which will include a review of some 400,000 calls for service, will be completed in three to five months.

Snow said the nonprofit organization has been asked "to pay particular attention" to the department's training and use-of-force policies. Its final report will be available to the public.

"We at the Police Department welcome a thorough and unbiased analysis of our operation," said Patrick Moers, interim police chief.
