Henderson land sale approved
A $13.6 million land sale and purchase agreement between South 15 Partners LLC and the city of Henderson was approved by the council Tuesday.
Known as the South15 Airport Center, the project is a joint venture by Panattoni Development, M.J. Dean Construction and New West Co.
The 150 acres of land near the Henderson Executive Airport will house a 2 million-square-foot industrial park.
The project is scheduled to be developed in three phases over the next three years.
“It’s a pretty big project, and it’s pretty typical to phase these things out over time,” said Terry Manley, owner of New West Co.
Manley said the first phase should break ground this summer.
Henderson acquired the land from the Bureau of Land Management. Proceeds from the sale go back to the BLM through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act of 1998.
Panattoni originally hoped to negotiate a deal to put Amazon.com at the location. After the deal fell through and the company chose a California development instead, Panattoni retained its interest.
Developers are in talks for with first tenant, but Manley wouldn’t confirm which business they are negotiating with.
“I can tell you it will be a distribution center of a Fortune 100 company,” Manley said.
