Hiker dies after falling at Red Rock Canyon

A hiker died after he fell at Calico Basin in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area on Saturday.

Las Vegas police Lt. John Liberty said a female hiker called about 1 p.m. to report the man had fallen an unknown distance. It was unclear exactly when the man died, and no one witnessed his fall, Liberty said.

Clark County firefighters, the coroner's office and police search and rescue all responded.

Authorities did not release the name or age of the man. An investigation is pending.
