Hovercraft team rescues deer stranded on ice

Three deer trapped for as many days on an icy lake in Minnesota were rescued by a father-son duo who first learned about their plight on Facebook.

James Kenison saw a Facebook post in December about a deer stuck on the frozen Albert Lea Lake. The deer were thought to have been stuck there for at least three days after their struggles to get off the ice moved them more than a quarter of a mile away from shore.

Kenison, who with his father, Doug, owns MedCity Hovercraft, decided he and his father had to do something to help the deer.

The two grabbed some supplies and a GoPro camera and took a couple hovercrafts out to the lake. They tied rope to the animals’ legs and pulled them to land with the hovercrafts.

The video, posted to YouTube, went viral once GoPro found out about it and posted its own version.
