IADT hosts summer open houses

The International Academy of Design and Technology Las Vegas, a college offering associate and bachelor degrees in a variety of design and technology disciplines, will host three community open house events this summer on June 23, July 30 and Aug. 20. All open house events are held on campus at 2495 Village View Drive in Henderson.

"The open house events are designed to be fun, interactive events for prospective students and their friends and family members," said Jason Smith, president of IADT Las Vegas. "We invite anyone with a passion for creativity to stop by and learn more about the college."

IADT opened its 50,000-square-foot campus in 2003 offering various degree programs in fashion, graphic and interior design. Within the last year, three new programs have been added to IADT's course offerings. These include audio production, information technology and fashion merchandising.

Audio production is quickly becoming IADT's largest program. Students in this program learn advanced techniques in recording, mixing and mastering using Pro Tools software, the preferred software of the music and audio recording industries. Principles of MIDI, synthesis and sound design for CD production, film and video production are also covered in the curriculum. Opportunities to compose, perform and record music are integrated into the program, and enrolling students receive a $1,000-plus equipment package .

Information technologies, IADT's newest program, provides students an industry-current understanding of operating systems, system upgrades, diagnostics and repair along with computer programming.

Fashion merchandising students learn about business, marketing, management and sales principals used within the fashion industry as a means of developing concepts and refining merchandising skills. IADT offers one of the largest and most comprehensive fashion programs in Nevada.

All of IADT's courses are taught by faculty with relevant career experience, providing students the opportunity to benefit from real-world experience.
