ICAN’s camp launches teens into school year

Today's youth have more to tackle in life than previous generations. Issues Concerning Adolescents of Nevada's annual Leadership Camp, held Aug. 9-15, helps them learn the skills necessary to navigate the teenage experience.

The seven-day camp consists of speakers, workshops and curriculum to educate and empower young adults to be self-reliant, inspirational peers and community role models. Held at Camp Lee Canyon, the camp also focuses on positive friendships and creativity.

Cost for the overnight camp is $250 and includes food, lodging, workshops, speakers, a T-shirt, materials and activities, including a dance and talent show.

ICAN is an organization charged with addressing the challenges facing today's youth. The group's adult leaders have decades of experience in drug and alcohol abuse prevention along with other obstacles that hinder teens' abilities to make well-informed decisions.

Space for Leadership Camp is limited. Those interested in a camp application, or additional information, can visit the Web site at www.icanlv.org, call 451-ICAN (4226) or send e-mail to Jamie@icanlv.org.
