59-year-old man shot and killed while riding bicycle
A 59-year-old man was gunned down while riding a bicycle Tuesday night in what police believe might have been a random killing.
The man, whose name was not released, had just left an Albertson's shopping center and was traveling east on Vegas Valley Drive near Nellis Boulevard at 9:24 p.m. when he was shot multiple times, Las Vegas police said.
He was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide Lt. Lew Roberts said the killing appeared to be random.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
SENTENCING UPCOMING
Arizona man pleads guilty in deaths of wife, mother-in-law
A Bullhead City, Ariz., man charged in the stabbing deaths of his wife and mother-in-law pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder Wednesday.
Under terms of the deal Ari Feinner, 46, is still subject to a possible death sentence. Attorneys have agreed to bring in an outside judge to handle sentencing. The judge will preside over a hearing next month to determine whether there's sufficient cause for rejection of capital punishment.
Prosecutor Ken Skousen said the judge, under terms of the deal, would still be required to impose a natural life prison term for the April 2007 stabbing death of Veronica Feinner, 27. The deal requires a separate sentence of at least 25 years for the death of Feinner's mother Marie Zavala, 67.
Authorities have alleged that his wife's renewed interest in divorce enraged Feinner to the point that he killed both women and two family dogs.
