DOMESTIC ASSAULT
LV man held in beating wife, leaving with infant son
A Las Vegas man has been arrested in suburban Los Angeles after authorities say he beat his wife unconscious, left her by a freeway and drove off with their baby. The 9-month-old boy was found unharmed Thursday morning.
Authorities say 32-year-old Jermaine Rodriguez Suarez and his wife were driving from Las Vegas to Montebello just after midnight Friday when they began to argue.
Police claim that Suarez pulled off a freeway in Upland, let the woman out and drove away but returned and beat her unconscious. The 25-year-old woman awoke in bushes to find the baby gone. An Amber Alert was issued.
Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Joe Reveles said deputies found Suarez and the boy at 4 a.m. in a car in Norwalk.
