61,000 Nevadans lose insurance, report says
A new report says more than 61,000 residents of Nevada lost health insurance through August this year.
The consumer advocacy group Families USA says the problem is a result of Nevada's worsening unemployment rate.
The rate hit 13.3 percent in September.
Families USA says most Americans receive group health coverage through their own job or that of a family member. Individual coverage is a lot more expensive.
The same group in a survey months ago said health insurance premiums for families in Nevada were rising nearly three times as fast as earnings.

Woman slain over cigarette, police say
A 22-year-old Nevada man has been jailed on suspicion of murder based on allegations he fatally beat a woman who denied his request for a cigarette.
Ryan Bonnett is accused of killing 47-year-old Eileen Pruitt on Sunday night.
Storey County Assistant Sheriff Gerald Antinoro said the woman was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, where she died after surgery. He said witnesses told deputies that Bonnett became upset because the woman refused to give him a cigarette.
