66-YEAR-OLD WOMAN

Victim in crash with ambulance identified

The 66-year-old Las Vegas woman who died Sunday in a crash involving an ambulance has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office as Fe Revilla Gascon.

According to witnesses, a 2005 Pontiac Vibe was traveling east on Bridger Avenue when it collided with an ambulance that was traveling north on Las Vegas Boulevard at 5:13 p.m.

Both vehicles entered the intersection at the same time, according to Las Vegas police. The ambulance belongs to American Medical Response.

Gascon was pronounced dead at the scene. She died of a crushed chest in what the coroner's office ruled was an accident.

The passengers of both vehicles were taken to University Medical Center for minor to critical injures.

No charges had been filed in the case as of Thursday.

COMMUNITY FORUM

Gathering aims to help prevent juvenile crime

Clark County Family Court Judge William Voy will host a community forum called "Preventing Juvenile Delinquency" at 1 p.m. today at the Pearson Community Center, 1625 W. Carey Ave., North Las Vegas.

The forum will bring community groups and agencies together to identify services and programs that can assist in preventing juvenile crimes.

"Though we have made great strides in reforming the juvenile justice system over the past six years, we have not achieved significant overall decline in the number of youth committing crimes, especially among minority youth," Voy said.
