Man killed in car crash near Sloan identified
The man who died after his car careened off a 30-foot embankment on Las Vegas Boulevard near Sloan last month has been identified as 59-year-old Ahmet Ibrahimof Kerimof.
Witnesses told the Nevada Highway Patrol that the car was traveling north at 11:30 a.m. July 23 at a high rate of speed before it crossed into oncoming traffic and off the road.
None of the three passengers was wearing a seat belt, and Kerimof was thrown from the vehicle. He was airlifted to University Medical Center, where he died about an hour later.
The other two passengers, a man and a woman whose names were not released, walked up the embankment and hitched a ride with a passer-by, who took them to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena campus. Their conditions were not released.

Accident at test site leaves two men dead
Two civilian contractors died at the Nevada Test Site after their fuel truck rolled over on Tuesday.
Officials are investigating the cause of the 12:50 p.m. accident near the Tonopah Air Field, 125 miles northwest of Nellis Air Force Base and 35 miles southeast of Tonopah.
The accident killed Curtis Fowler, 55, of Tonopah and a man whose name was not released, base officials said.
The men worked for Trend Western Technical Corp., a subcontractor that provides range support and services under contract with the 98th Range Wing at the base.

Three die, two hurt in accident on freeway
Three people were killed in Reno when the car they were riding in swerved to miss a piece of furniture that had fallen out of a pickup on a busy freeway.
Authorities said the car driven by a 19-year-old woman had three passengers. The vehicle struck the center divider on U.S. Highway 395 and rolled into northbound travel lanes, where it was struck by an oncoming sport utility vehicle.
The three passengers died at the scene. The driver was taken to a Reno hospital and was in intensive care.
A woman driving with her son in the SUV suffered moderate injuries. Authorities said the little boy was properly restrained in a car seat and was not injured.
