PEDESTRIAN DIES IN ACCIDENT

Man struck by vehicle walked into traffic

A pedestrian struck by a vehicle at 12:01 a.m., Saturday in Bullhead City died after he was transported to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. Bullhead City police Lt. Jerry Duke said the name of the 36-year-old transient who was killed is withheld pending notification of family.

Duke said investigators believe that the man had consumed alcohol before he stepped in front of an oncoming vehicle at Fifth Street on state Route 95.

FATAL CRASH

Motorcyclist veers off road, crashes into post

A motorcyclist died after losing control of his motorcycle, and crashing into a signpost Saturday afternoon.

Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Kevin Honea said the man, who was in his 30s, was traveling north on Interstate 15 when he took the offramp to eastbound St. Rose Parkway.

Witnesses said the man was driving at a high rate of speed, and the motorcycle veered off the offramp and into a gravel area about 2 p.m., Honea said. He hit a signpost and was thrown from the motorcycle into the westbound lanes of St. Rose.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not released.

Honea said the man was wearing a helmet.

PROPOSITION 8

Church says thousands spent on marriage ban

Mormon church officials say they spent $190,000 more supporting the Proposition 8 gay marriage ban than they previously reported. They had listed just $2,078 to support the ban.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is being investigated by the California Fair Political Practices Commission.
