DECEMBER SHOOTING

Man arrested, accused of slaying in traffic

Las Vegas police Monday arrested a suspect wanted in the December death of a man who was shot while waiting in traffic.

Ralph Fuller, 50, was charged with murder with a deadly weapon and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

He is accused of killing 48-year-old Michael McDaniel, who was shot around 8:45 a.m. Dec. 16 at the corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Owens Avenue.

Witnesses told police Fuller, who was stuck in traffic, exited a Nissan vehicle, walked up to McDaniel's window and fired multiple rounds. He then walked back to his vehicle and fled.

McDaniel died later at University Medical Center.

Police said they did not know whether the incident was a random act.

DEATH OF EX-OLYMPIAN

Former boxer's slaying a death penalty case

Prosecutors said they will seek the death penalty against a man who pleaded not guilty to shooting a former Olympic boxer to death last August in Las Vegas.

A judge scheduled a trial in September for 26-year-old Roger Randolph after he appeared in court Tuesday.

Randolph is being held without bail at the Clark County jail.

Prosecutors allege Randolph shot 31-year-old Rhoshii Wells twice with a high-powered rifle on Aug. 11 after an argument at an apartment complex.

Randolph called the shooting self-defense. He said Wells punched him and robbed him of $100.

Wells was a father of five who won a bronze medal for the United States as a middleweight at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

LAS VEGAS BOULEVARD CRASH

Collision victim was Las Vegas teenager

The 18-year-old Las Vegas woman who died in a Sunday night collision has been identified as Ashley Michelle Uceda.

Uceda and two teenage passengers in a Ford Taurus she was driving were heading off the eastbound lane of Shelbourne Avenue onto southbound Las Vegas Boulevard when the 7:55 p.m. collision with a pickup occurred.

The pickup's driver was traveling south on Las Vegas Boulevard as the Taurus pulled away from the stop sign. Uceda was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two passengers in her vehicle were taken to University Medical Center with moderate to critical injuries, police said.

The driver of the pickup, 22-year-old Tasha Stewart-Irwin, and three young passengers were uninjured.

ACCIDENTAL DEATH

Man died from drugs, coroner's office rules

A 60-year-old man found dead in his North Las Vegas apartment last month died from methadone and cocaine intoxication.

Police had treated the death of Bobby Ray Snyder as a homicide, but the Clark County coroner's office has ruled his death accidental.

Snyder was discovered around noon Dec. 7 by a relative who went to his residence at Judith Villas Apartments in the 700 block of Nelson Avenue, near Losee Road and Cheyenne Avenue.
