IN BRIEF

NORTH LAS VEGAS INCIDENT

1-year-old girl drowns at mobile home park

A 1-year-old girl drowned in a mobile home at a North Las Vegas trailer park Thursday.

Sgt. Tim Bedwell said the girl and her mother were in a trailer at the Twin Acres trailer park, at 2001 E. Tonopah Ave., near Bruce Street and Lake Mead Boulevard, when the drowning occurred.

Around noon, the mother ran with the child in her arms to a medical office complex about a block away from the trailer park. Officials called 911, and an ambulance took the child to University Medical Center, where she died.

Bedwell said police still were investigating how the child drowned.

He encouraged parents not to take their children to a medical center in an emergency but call 911, when a dispatcher could talk the parent through CPR until an ambulance arrives.

CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES

Police urge parents to come forward

Las Vegas police are looking for victims of a 39-year-old part-time magician who was arrested March 10 on 25 counts of possession of child pornography.

Jonathan McCallum, who on his Web site said he performed at private parties throughout the Las Vegas Valley, lives in Henderson near Sunset Park, police said.

His company is called McCallum Magic. His Web site said he has performed at the Lied Discovery Children's Museum and for the city of Las Vegas.

McCallum's arrest came after a tip from a citizen, police said.

Police are asking parents to come forward if their children were ever photographed by McCallum.

The Metropolitan Police Department's Crimes Against Youth and Family Bureau can be reached at (702) 828-3421.
