Pedestrian killed by police officer named

The man struck and killed by a Las Vegas police officer's vehicle while the officer was responding to a burglary call Saturday was Robert James Siebold, 61, according to the Clark County coroner's office.

Siebold was hit as he crossed Nellis Boulevard from the east side of the street outside of a crosswalk near Tropicana Avenue around 12:50 a.m. Saturday. The officer who struck him had lights and sirens on and said he was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian.

Siebold died of multiple blunt-force trauma in what the coroner's office ruled an accidental collision. The man died at the scene.

Las Vegas police did not release the name of the officer Tuesday.

Teen accidentally killed by rifle shot identified

The 16-year-old boy who died Saturday when he was accidentally shot with a rifle has been identified as Marcus A. Robinson.

The Las Vegas resident was playing with the gun at a residence on the 7300 block of Mountain Thickett Street, near Elkhorn Road and Durango Drive, with a friend who was holding the gun when it fired.

Robinson died of a perforated gunshot wound to the neck in what has been ruled an accident.

Homicide Lt. Lew Roberts said Sunday the two friends thought the gun was unloaded. No one had been arrested.

Two-year-old drowning victim in NLV identified

The 2-year-old boy who drowned Monday in a residential backyard pool has been identified as Emmanuel Alfredo Macedo of Las Vegas.

The toddler was at a home on the 3100 block of Van Der Meer Street, near Cheyenne Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard North, with several relatives when the incident occurred.

North Las Vegas police would not say whether the pool area was fenced or gated, but aerial footage of the pool showed no fence.

Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said the drowning remains under investigation.
