IN BRIEF
HAWAII HOTELS
Generators keep lights on during blackout
Hawaii's top tourism official said hotels kept visitors happy during Honolulu's blackout by turning on power generators and communicating with them.
Hawaii Tourism Liaison Marsha Weinert said that all hotel power generators worked properly during Friday night's island-wide power outage.
Following an earthquake in 2006, some generators did not work because they had not been maintained.
CRASH OUTSIDE CROSSWALK
SUV collides with man in wheelchair, who dies
Phoenix police said a driver in a sport-utility vehicle hit a man in a wheelchair as he was crossing a major street, killing him.
Police officer Luis Samudio said Sunday that it was dark outside and that the wheelchair-bound man was not in a crosswalk.
The 50-year-old man was crossing the street Friday night when a 22-year-old woman driving a Buick Rendezvous hit him. She is not facing any charges.
