HIGHWAY ACCIDENT
NLV motorcyclist dies in crash on Route 147
A North Las Vegas man died last week after he crashed his motorcycle on State Route 147 near Hollywood Boulevard, the Nevada Highway Patrol said Monday.
Marc Allen Bailey, 32, got into the accident about 9:15 p.m. Friday, according to the highway patrol.
Bailey was riding a 2005 Kawasaki east on State Route 147 approaching mile marker 36. Bailey crossed the double-yellow center lines as well as the westbound travel lane, the highway patrol said. He rode off the roadway edge, traveled off an embankment and struck a dirt mound. The collision threw Bailey off his motorcycle. The highway patrol said Bailey died at the scene.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
INTERSTATE 5 COLLISION
Multi-vehicle accident kills two people
Two people have died in a multi-vehicle accident that shut down three lanes of Interstate 5 near Sylmar, Calif.
California Highway Patrol Officer Heather Hoglund says the accident Monday involved a pickup, a car and a motorcycle.
Hoglund says the motorcyclist stopped and dismounted in a middle lane.
A car stopped behind the motorcycle and the driver put her emergency lights on, but a pickup truck rear-ended the car, killing the driver and the motorcyclist. Firefighters had to extract the woman from her car.
Three lanes of the interstate were closed for about three hours.
