BELTWAY CRASH

38-year-old woman killed in accident ID'd

The 38-year-old woman who died earlier this week after she veered into oncoming traffic on the northern Las Vegas Beltway was identified by the coroner's office Wednesday as Sandra Bell Kracke.

The Las Vegas resident died Tuesday. Kracke was driving west on the Beltway between Losee Road and Aliante Parkway about 8 a.m. in a silver Toyota sedan, Nevada Highway Patrol officials said. She lost control of her car and crossed the median into eastbound traffic.

Her car struck the front of an eastbound Chrysler 300. Las Vegas police confirmed the driver of the Chrysler was a Metropolitan Police Department captain who has not been identified.

Kracke's car then clipped the side of a white pickup, causing the truck to overturn. The pickup driver was airlifted to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. His condition was unknown Wednesday. The driver of the Chrysler was taken to UMC with injuries that were not life threatening.
