SOUTHERN NEVADA
Ground-level ozone warning issued
Clark County Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management issued a warning of possibly harmful levels of ground-level ozone in Southern Nevada through this evening.
Unhealthy amounts of ozone can worsen cardiac and respiratory illnesses such as asthma and bronchitis, agency officials said.
Residents are being advised to limit strenuous outdoor activity as much as possible during this time.
Ozone occurs naturally in the atmosphere and protects Earth from the sun's ultraviolet rays.
Ozone also contributes to urban smog in the county during the summer.
