IN BRIEF
TRIAL IN WYOMING
Brothel owner guilty of child porn charges
A jury in Cheyenne, Wyo., found Nevada brothel owner David Burgess guilty of possessing and transporting child pornography.
Jurors deliberated less than four hours after Friday's closing arguments in the federal trial of Burgess, 55, a member of a northern Nevada chapter of the Hells Angels. Burgess is the owner of the Old Bridge Ranch, a legal brothel near Reno.
Burgess had pleaded not guilty to the two charges. When the verdict was read, he looked solemnly back at his friends and family members, some of whom wept uncontrollably.
Investigators found images of child pornography on two computer hard drives seized from Burgess' motor home during a traffic stop in July in western Wyoming.
TODAY AND SUNDAY
Wind forecast prompts air quality advisory
For the second time this week, Clark County air quality officials issued an advisory warning residents that strong winds could kick up unhealthy levels of dust from vacant lots, unpaved roads and construction sites.
Like the dust advisory issued Monday, the one released Friday covers two days, today and Sunday.
"Under windy conditions, localized or valleywide areas of blowing dust are likely to occur," the advisory reads.
Dust is an inhalable form of air pollution that can particularly affect children, the elderly and people with respiratory diseases, the advisory said. Those groups are urged to stay indoors during dust storms.
Air quality officials recommend that motorists drive slowly on unpaved roads and avoid taking short cuts across vacant lots.
