GIRL'S THROAT SLIT
Man accused of killing daughter to stand trial
A man accused of killing his 12-year-old daughter at the Road Runner RV Park will go to trial on murder charges.
A Las Vegas justice of the peace determined there is enough evidence to send 55-year-old William Redman to trial on charges he slit his daughter Gloria's throat.
Gloria, who was a sixth-grader at Harney Middle School, was found dead in a pool of blood in mid-March at the RV park on Boulder Highway near Flamingo Road.
Redman called a 911 operator after the killing and, when asked how Gloria died, responded: "It was the way Jehovah does things," according to a police report.
Redman is in custody at the county jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned May 20.

Woman, 62, dies after being hit by car
A 62-year-old woman died early Monday after being hit by a car while jaywalking across Nellis Boulevard, Las Vegas police said.
The woman, who was not immediately identified, was struck by a 1996 Chrysler LHS sedan driven by 45-year-old Robert McKnight just south of Meilke Lane, near Lake Mead Boulevard, about 4 a.m., police said.
She was rushed to University Medical Center, where she died, police said.
The collision remained under investigation, but police said pedestrian error appeared to be the cause.

Motorcyclist dies near airport connector
A 19-year-old Henderson woman died after losing control of her motorcycle late Sunday night near the airport tunnel connector, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The unidentified woman was heading north toward McCarran International Airport from the eastbound Las Vegas Beltway when her Kawasaki motorcycle careened down an embankment on the right side of the road about 11:45 p.m., trooper Kevin Honea said.
She was taken to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, Honea said.
The woman was wearing a helmet, he said.
PEDESTRIAN ON HIGHWAY
Man dies after being struck along I-15
A man on foot along Interstate 15 south of Las Vegas was hit by a commercial truck and killed Monday, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Investigators did not know why the man was on the highway but were looking into all possibilities, including whether it was a "deliberate act," trooper Kevin Honea said.
The accident occurred at 1:19 p.m. a few miles south of Sloan. The man was standing or walking in the right, southbound travel lane when the truck hit him, Honea said.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, died at the scene.
Troopers found an abandoned pickup with California license plates a few hundred feet from where the man was struck, but Honea said he didn't know if the truck belonged to the man.
ADJUSTED FOR INFLATION
Reno-area panel looks at raising gasoline tax
A transportation panel is recommending that Washoe County's fuel tax structure be adjusted for inflation to meet a $5.2 billion shortfall in needed road projects over the next 30 years.
The area's Regional Transportation Commission will consider putting the proposal before voters when it meets next week.
An advisory committee suggests local, state and federal gasoline and diesel taxes be set to inflation.
Officials estimate the change could raise $2.6 billion between 2010 and 2040, while costing motorists about 2 cents more per gallon.
