ONE DRIVER INJURED
Passenger dies after pickup strikes car
A 23-year-old Las Vegas man died in a traffic accident Friday night on Silverado Ranch Road near Eastern Avenue.
The man, whose identity was not released, was in the passenger seat of a 2003 Dodge Neon driven by 20-year-old Jaban Aguayo.
As the Neon was making a left turn from Silverado Ranch into a Target shopping center at 10:58 p.m., the vehicle pulled into the path of a 1997 GMC Sierra 3500 pickup eastbound on Silverado Ranch, according to Las Vegas police.
The truck, driven by 21-year-old Randy Bartolone, swerved but was unable to avoid the Neon. The front of the truck hit the passenger side of the car.
Both people in the Neon were taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena campus, where the passenger was pronounced dead upon arrival. Aguayo suffered moderate injuries.
Bartolone was not injured.
Failing to yield the right of way to the pickup was the cause of the accident, according to police.
