An 80-year-old Henderson man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 95 Alternate about 20 miles north of Yerington.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said Donald F. Smith, who was traveling alone, was pronounced dead at the scene early Saturday afternoon.

An investigation into the accident continued.

Five found dead in gated community

Five people who were thought to be related were found dead inside a Southern California home, authorities said Sunday.

Sheriff's Lt. Erin Giudice said the bodies were found just before 4 p.m. Sunday at the house in a gated community in San Clemente. She said a relative made the discovery and called 911.

Giudice said it appeared the victims were related.

How they died was unclear. Homicide detectives were investigating.

Keep yourself clean, Utah tells pool users

It takes only one careless person to infect an entire pool.

That is the message from health officials in Salt Lake City as they begin a campaign to tell the public to keep clean while swimming this summer.

Nearly 2,000 people in Utah got sick last year from cryptosporidium, a parasite that can cause severe diarrhea and is commonly passed through feces.

New rules that kicked in Thursday say children younger than 3 or anyone incontinent must wear swim diapers or a waterproof swim pant. Everyone should shower with soap. No changing a diaper at the side of a pool.

"We all have to do our part to protect ourselves and each other," said Gary Edwards, director of the Salt Lake Valley Health Department.
