Woman dead in garage had been strangled

A 24-year-old woman who was found dead in the garage of a relative's home last week was the victim of a homicide, Las Vegas police said Wednesday.

The coroner's office identified the victim, who was strangled, as Allainna McClain of Las Vegas.

McClain was found by Las Vegas police on Sunday shortly after 9:40 p.m. in the garage of a residence at the 8700 block of Isola Drive. Sgt. Russ Shoemaker said the home belonged to a relative of McClain. Police would not release any additional information Wednesday because the case was ongoing, Shoemaker said.

Single-car rollover victim identified

A driver who died after flipping his car Saturday night on the Las Vegas Beltway has been identified as Jose Gregorio Henriquez of Las Vegas, the coroner's office reported Wednesday.

Henriquez, 48, was driving a Mitsubishi sport-utility vehicle east on the Beltway between Aliante Parkway and Losee Road shortly before midnight. Trooper Kevin Honea with the Nevada Highway Patrol said the driver drifted off the right shoulder and flipped the vehicle as he tried to return it to the paved road.

Henriquez was pronounced dead at the scene.

21-YEAR-OLD DEAD

Highway Patrol seeks hit-and-run driver

A man who was struck by a vehicle and killed while walking last week on the Eastern Avenue onramp to southbound U.S. Highway 95 was identified by the coroner's office Wednesday as 21-year-old Danny Aguilar.

Aguilar was struck by a car Saturday about 10:15 p.m., according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. The driver of the car then fled.

Aguilar, whose city of residence was unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Highway Patrol, witnesses said the driver was in a blue or black sedan and continued south on U.S. 95, exiting on Charleston Avenue.

The Highway Patrol was still searching for the driver on Wednesday. Anyone with knowledge of the accident should call the Nevada Department of Public Safety at 432-5218.
