ACCIDENT AT INTERSECTION
62-year-old passenger in car killed in collision
A 62-year-old Las Vegas man was killed after the car he was a passenger in was struck Tuesday morning at the intersection of Nellis Boulevard and Harris Avenue, Las Vegas police said.
Miguel Bautista was a front-seat passenger in a 1990 Acura Integra traveling northbound on Nellis and about to make a left turn onto Harris Avenue when it was struck by a 2002 Ford Explorer traveling south on Nellis.
Bautista was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the driver of the Acura briefly spoke with a witness, then fled the scene on foot.
The driver of the Ford Explorer was identified as 26-year-old Julie Morales. She was taken to the University Medical Center in serious condition.
Police said the driver of the Acura could face felony charges for fleeing the scene of the accident.

L.A. Archdiocese sells building for settlement
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles has sold the 12-story office building that serves as its administrative headquarters to help pay last year's $660 million settlement with victims of clergy sex abuse, a spokesman said Tuesday.
The Archdiocesan Catholic Center was sold to Los Angeles-based Jamison Properties for $31 million, archdiocese spokesman Tod Tamberg said.
