REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER
Tennessee fugitive arrested in Las Vegas
A Tennessee martial arts teacher was captured in Nevada after police said he fled from an arrest warrant for failing to register as a sexual offender.
Edsel Ahern Griffin, 65, was taken into custody by U.S. marshals March 20 in Las Vegas. He is scheduled to appear in court today.
He is a registered sex offender in Florida after being convicted in 1997 of two counts of sexual battery/coercion of a child by an adult.
Griffin, whose martial arts facility was featured in the Cleveland Daily Banner, was charged with failure to register in Tennessee. But before the arrest warrant was served, police said, he and his wife closed their business and abandoned their home.
