Remains of woman missing for year found

The remains of a woman missing since March 2, 2007, have been found and identified as those of Melanie Wickert, officials with the Clark County coroner's office said.

The remains were found March 13 in the Las Vegas Wash, near Hollywood Boulevard and Pabco Road.

Henderson police said Wickert, 34, was with her boyfriend when she ran off on her own accord. Police have found no evidence of foul play.

The remains were found by a volunteer from the Nevada Center for Missing Loved Ones during a search.

Kingman doctor faces misconduct allegations

A physician was jailed Thursday in Kingman, Ariz., after a single sexual harassment complaint snowballed with more than a dozen Kingman Regional Medical Center employees bringing allegations of misconduct against Dr. Ilangovan Govindarajan.

Govindarajan, 43, was arrested on nine counts of sexual abuse and 11 assault-related charges. Police Sgt. Rusty Cooper declined to detail the allegations.

Govindarajan, an internal medicine specialist, had an initial court appearance Friday. Justice of the Peace John Taylor ordered that he be released on his own recognizance.

Charges won't be filed in pedestrian fatality

Charges will not be pursued against the driver in a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision, according to police in Bullhead City, Ariz.

Agency spokeswoman Emily Montague identified Yong Sun Evans, 84, of Bullhead City as the victim of the accident, which occurred at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Montague said Evans was trying to cross Hancock Road when she was struck by a westbound 1988 GMC pickup.

Montague said the 46-year-old driver told police that the sun had obstructed his view.

Streaker sentenced to two years' probation

A streaker who ran past cheerleaders at Douglas High School in Minden has been placed on two years of probation and ordered to complete 80 hours of community service.

Douglas County District Judge Dave Gamble handed down the sentence Tuesday to Michael King, 21, of Minden, who pleaded guilty to a gross misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure.

King also was ordered to keep away from all schools and to avoid contact with minors without permission of his probation officer.

"I know it was incredibly stupid," King said. "Nothing like this will ever happen again."
