EXECUTION-STYLE SLAYINGS
Air Force to destroy site where teens killed
The Air Force plans to destroy an abandoned military bunker in the Mojave Desert where a teen couple were killed execution-style earlier this month.
The bunker is on the former Hawes Auxiliary Army Airfield. It has been abandoned since the mid-1980s and has become a graffiti-scarred hangout for youths.
Christopher Cody Thompson, 18, and his girlfriend Bodhisattva Sherzer-Potter, 16, were shot at the bunker on Jan. 5.
Arrested in connection with the slayings were Collin Lee McGlaughlin, 18, and David Brian Smith, 19.
FLIGHTS DELAYED
Southwest plane lands, skids off taxiway
A Southwest Airlines plane with 118 passengers on board skidded off a snow-covered taxiway Sunday afternoon after safely landing at Spokane (Wash.) International Airport, the airline said.
No one was injured, but flights didn't resume for more than three hours.
The pilot of Southwest Flight 485, which took off from Portland, Ore. after making stops in San Diego and Sacramento, Calif., was slowly taxiing to the gate when the front wheels of the plane slid off the taxiway about 1:40 p.m.
