OREGON DAD IN CUSTODY
Toddler left in hot car outside Mustang Ranch
An Oregon man is in custody on allegations that he left his 2-year-old daughter in a car in 95-degree heat in the parking lot of a brothel in Patrick, east of Reno.
The Storey County Sheriff's Office said Lucien Hoffman of Bend was being held in jail in lieu of $40,000 bail on charges of child neglect.
Hoffman told deputies he was attending a function at the Mustang Ranch brothel off Interstate 80.
A brothel security guard found the child crying inside the car Saturday and took her indoors until authorities arrived.
The girl was treated for dehydration and released to the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services.

Baby dies after mom uses meth pipe swab
An 8-month-old boy died after his mother said she accidentally wiped his nose with a cotton swab used earlier to clean a methamphetamine pipe, police in Ontario, Calif., said.
Prosecutors will probably seek murder charges against the mother, Elizabeth Reta, 27, of Ontario, and her boyfriend, Juan Antonio Sanchez Jr., police Cpl. Jeff Higbee said Monday.
The boy, Samuel Reta, was declared dead Friday at Loma Linda University Medical Center, the San Bernardino County Coroner's office said.
He had been in a coma since police responding to an emergency call early Thursday found him in full cardiac arrest. He also had a fractured skull, broken arm and pneumonia, police said.
Elizabeth Reta and Sanchez were arrested Thursday.

Doh! Theme park ride goes back to past
A ride that took theme park visitors "Back to the Future" is about to be relegated to the past. The Universal Studios Hollywood ride took its final passengers Monday before closing to make room for a new "Simpsons" attraction.
"Back to the Future -- The Ride," was the theme park's first high-tech thrill ride when it opened in 1993.
The new ride, based on "The Simpsons" TV series, will debut next year, park officials said.
