CITYCENTER ACCIDENT

Construction worker who fell was LV man

The construction worker who fell to his death last week at MGM Mirage's CityCenter construction site has been identified as 46-year-old Harold Billingsley of Las Vegas.

About 9 a.m. Friday, Billingsley, an ironworker, fell about 55 feet after reportedly hitting his head on a beam and losing his balance.

He was wearing a safety harness, but whether the harness was hooked in was unclear, said Scott Allison, spokesman for the Clark County Fire Department.

Billingsley was the fourth person to die at the site in less than a year and a half.

CALIFORNIA AUTO DEATHS

Four killed in collision between pickup, rig

Two children and two adults died Sunday in a collision between a big rig and a pickup on Interstate 80 near Sacramento, Calif.

California Highway Patrol officer Liz Dutton said a 2006 Nissan Frontier was towing a Corvette on a trailer when it jackknifed. The Frontier hit the north side of the Bryte Bend Bridge, which carries traffic over the Sacramento River, and was struck from behind by the larger truck.

A 22-year-old man and woman in the pickup died with their children: a 2-year-old boy and a baby girl. The family was traveling back to Utah. The Highway Patrol said the crash shut down eastbound I-80 for almost five hours.
