UNIVERSITY STUDY
Report links pollution, bronchitis in infants
Researchers at the University of California, Davis say infants' lungs are more vulnerable to certain air pollution particles than was previously believed.
The study released last week shows a link between bronchitis in infants and little-studied components in air pollution called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
Researchers based their report on data from pollution studies and health records of pregnant women, infants and children in the Czech Republic.
Air quality advocates are hoping to use the data to push for more controls on emissions from vehicles and wood-burning stoves.
