Killer sought in slaying of 22-year-old man
North Las Vegas police are searching for the killer of a 22-year-old man who died Sunday after being shot in the head.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire about 12:50 a.m. and found Patrick Beverly lying in the street in the 500 block of Kings Avenue, near Carey Avenue and Commerce Street, police said.
He was taken to University Medical Center, where he died 10 hours later.

House blaze forces evacuation of family
Henderson firefighters evacuated a family from a burning home Tuesday afternoon.
The residents of 111 Menta Court reported the fire at 3:37 p.m. after seeing smoke coming from the roof and attic vents. By the time firefighters arrived, the blaze had spread to the walls around the chimney and to the attic.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation Wednesday night but appeared to be accidental, the Henderson Fire Department said.
The damage was estimated at $120,000. No one was injured, and the occupants are staying with family and friends until the fire damage is repaired.

Fire at vacant home damages rooms
A vacant Las Vegas house suffered $100,000 in damage Wednesday when a fire gutted several rooms before the blaze could be extinguished, the Las Vegas Fire Department said.
Homeless people staying at the house, at 1204 Montclair Ave., was a possibility, investigators said.
The cause of the blaze, which was reported at 1:31 a.m., had not been determined as of Wednesday night.
