Police identify victim, make arrest in slaying
A man shot to death Thursday during a robbery has been identified, and police have charged an 18-year-old in the slaying.
Albert Lloyd Clark III, 36, of Winnetka, Calif., was killed about 2 p.m. on St. Lawrence Drive, near Decatur and Lake Mead boulevards. Minutes earlier, Clark and another man, a barber, were leaving Richard's His & Her Barbershop when two men asked them for a ride, police said.
At the end of the short trip, the two men shot Clark and his companion and stole the car, police said.
The barber was shot in the foot as he ran away. Clark died at the scene.
Police have arrested Patrick Terrell Lovette, 18, and charged him in the slaying. Lovette was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and charged with one count each of murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a deadly weapon and probation violation. He also was charged with two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon.
FATALITY NEAR NELLIS
Bicyclist struck by car and killed is identified
A bicyclist who was struck by a car and killed near Nellis Air Force Base on Thursday night was identified as Lambert Huerta.
The Las Vegas man was pedaling north on Betty Lane approaching Alto Avenue about 9 p.m. when a 2001 Ford F250 pickup hit him from behind, Las Vegas police said.
Huerta was thrown from his bike and died at the scene.
The driver, 43-year-old Rosina Sellers of Las Vegas, told detectives she did not see the cyclist. The investigation is continuing.
