FOUND IN HENDERSON

Fugitive, judge's friend placed on probation

A man who is a friend of a Family Court judge and who went on the lam for about two weeks before he was arrested in Henderson was placed again on probation Wednesday.

He also received more than 100 hours of community service. For every one of the 16 days Thomas Cecrle, 49, was a fugitive, District Judge Elizabeth Halverson ordered him to serve eight hours of community service.

Cecrle is the former brother-in-law of Family Court Judge Steven Jones.

On Feb. 7, Halverson sentenced Cecrle after his guilty plea to a charge of attempted possession of methamphetamine.

Cecrle conceded Wednesday he did not show up in February to the Clark County Detention Center, where he was supposed to start a 90-day sentence before beginning his probation.

Police located and arrested Cecrle on Feb. 27 in a Henderson motel. Authorities said they found drug paraphernalia and drugs in the apartment.

BANK ROBBERY

Suspect in Utah crime found dead in LV

A 28-year-old man wanted in connection with a robbery of a bank in Salt Lake City was found dead behind a blood bank Sunday in Las Vegas, authorities said.

Police found Graham Cassedy Faeth with two gunshot wounds to the chest about 12:30 a.m. Sunday behind a United Blood Services blood bank, authorities said.

Officer Bill Cassell, a Las Vegas police spokesman, said Faeth's gunshot wounds probably were self-inflicted.

"We're investigating it (his death) as we would any suicide," he said.

The Clark County coroner's office still was investigating how Faeth died on Wednesday.

Faeth is accused of robbing a Zions Bank on March 22 in Salt Lake City.

Armed with a handgun, Faeth threatened bank tellers that he would "start blasting people" if they called police during the robbery, according to an FBI affidavit.

Tellers handed over several thousand dollars to Faeth before he fled in a Honda Accord he stole from a bank customer, the affidavit said.

Faeth's mother saw his photo from bank surveillance video that was released after the robbery and contacted authorities, the affidavit said.

ARIZONA SLAYINGS

Man admits killing women, police say

A Bullhead City, Ariz., man has confessed that he killed his wife and her mother Tuesday before killing two family pet dogs, police said.

Police Lt. Steve Smith said Ari Feinner, 47, used a hunting knife in the violence.

Smith said that the trio lived together and that Feinner became enraged when Veronica Feinner, 27, renewed discussion of her plan to get a divorce. Smith said Feinner stabbed his wife before he killed her wheelchair-bound mother, Marie Zavala, 67.

Smith said police arrested Feinner without incident outside his home in the 3000 block of Larkwood Avenue. They were dispatched after Feinner's sister told police that Feinner told her he had killed the women.

Police said Feinner has two previous assault-related convictions. He was booked into jail on two counts of first-degree murder.

STABBING DEATH

Slaying suspect turns self in to LV police

A 40-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing another man turned himself in to police on Tuesday night, Las Vegas police said.

Johnny Brambila called 911 about 7 p.m. to surrender to authorities. Police took him into custody at the 3600 block of Boulder Highway, near Sahara Avenue, and he was booked into the county jail on charges of murder with a deadly weapon.

Brambila is accused of stabbing 48-year-old Robert Neal Johnson to death in a fight Monday night at 1286 S. Mojave Road, near Charleston Boulevard and Pecos Road.

HUMAN REMAINS

Burned bones found at Wetlands Park

The remains of what is thought to be a woman were found in a charred section of Clark County Wetlands Park, authorities said.

Twenty-two bones were found at the southeast valley park Tuesday, three weeks after a wildfire tore through about 200 acres of the park.

Lt. Lew Roberts of the Metropolitan Police Department's homicide unit said part of a skull and lower jaw were among the bones found.

"It didn't appear that there were any signs of trauma or foul play," he said, adding that the bones were severely burned.

Fire investigators have not determined what caused the fire but have speculated it was human-caused.

The Clark County coroner's office will test the bones to determine a cause of death and identification, Roberts said.

PAROLE SKIPPER

Trafficker who fled Canada nabbed in LV

The Las Vegas police fugitive unit Tuesday nabbed a Canadian national who skipped out on parole in 1998 and had been making a living working at a local casino.

Authorities said that in the 1990s, Douglas Blomert was part of the marijuana trafficking trade in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Blomert was convicted in the mid-1990s for trafficking 8,000 pounds of marijuana. He was sentenced to 10 years in a Canadian prison.

Lt. Ted Lee of the career criminal section said the fugitive unit arrested Blomert without incident about 1:30 p.m. at his residence in the 1300 block of Di Blasi Drive, near Maryland Parkway and Russell Road.

Nevada Gaming Control agents stumbled upon Blomert, who was working under the name of Douglas Litwin, during a routine gaming card renewal. A fingerprint card was submitted to the FBI for analysis, and Blomert's identity was discovered, Lee said.

Blomert will remain in federal custody awaiting extradition to Canada.
