18-year-old arrested in January shooting

An 18-year-old Las Vegas man was arrested in connection with a January shooting near Lake Mead Boulevard and Martin L. King Boulevard that left one dead and another wounded, authorities said.

Marcus Campell was charged with one count each of murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder with a deadly weapon and shooting into an occupied structure, Las Vegas police said. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and is being held without bail.

The shooting about 5:10 p.m. on Jan. 28 at 839 Hassell Avenue, left Patrick Russum, 19, dead and a 48-year-old man wounded in the arm.

Adjunct professor a Supreme Court Fellow

An adjunct law professor at the Boyd School of Law at UNLV has been selected as the 2007-08 Supreme Court Fellow assigned to the United States Sentencing Commission.

Karyn Kenny, a prior recipient of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' Outstanding Teaching by Part-Time Faculty Award, joined the U.S. attorney's office in Nevada in 2000.

The Supreme Court Fellows are selected by a commission comprised of nine members selected by the U.S. chief justice.
