Israel Independence Day celebrated Sunday

U.S. Congressman and Holocaust survivor Tom Lantos, D-Calif., will share some of his personal and professional insights about Israel during an Israel Independence Day celebration Sunday at Congregation Ner Tamid, 55 N. Valle Verde Drive, Henderson.

The event will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and include a concert by Visions, a trio that performs both old and new Jewish inspirational music.

Rep. Shelley Berkley will be on hand to help welcome Lantos, the only Holocaust survivor to serve in the House of Representatives.

The celebration is hosted by the United Jewish Community/Jewish Federation of Las Vegas, a nonprofit humanitarian organization.

Tickets are $5 for those ages 3 and older. For more information, call 732-0556.
