It takes a bigot to call someone a bigot

We get lots of uplifting letters encouraging us to keep the high-minded debate about the issues lively and alive.

Actually, we get more stuff like this from a curmudgeonly reader:

"Subject: Limited intelligence.....?

"It sure is present within the ranks of RJ editorial staff. Actually, less than limited. Again, you fools have complained and bitched about what is not happening....you appear to totally incapable of presenting any solutions. SOLUTIONS.....CAN YOU
EVEN SPELL IT? Everything you present screams that solutions are someone else's job.

"That is why you are a maligant nub on Clark County. Frankly, you are a disgrace to the uniform you claim to have worn."

To which I helpfully replied: "Try a little Austrian economics."

Back came this snappy rejoinder: "It would probably work rather well. But given the greed of human beings, little or no oversight causes what we have been experiencing.  Cannot even trust the overseers. You want much smaller government. OK, then YOU figure out how to get both parties to work together. Partisan politics does not create jobs. I suspect you do not care....just so the Republicans are in charge, with a caucasian  president. Bigotry and racism are alive and well, sir. Keep on stirring that pot."

I then defended our honor and our content of character stances: "Always the race card. When you can't win on logic, you call people names. Says much about you and nothing about me."

I let it drop after he replied: "You have stuck the labels on yourselves. Your gun totin', bible thumpin', southwestern cowboy stuff is quite evident. Knew a bunch of your ilk in Texas. All the same.

"Bye, bye."

 And he calls us bigots?
