Jaywalking Las Vegas man dies after being hit by car

A Las Vegas man died Sunday night after he jaywalked across Desert Inn Road west of Maryland Parkway and was struck by a car, Las Vegas police said.

The 59-year-old man was hit by the 75-year-old driver of a 1997 Honda Accord about 8 p.m. after he entered a right travel lane, police said.

The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where he later died. His identity was not been released by the Clark County coroner's office Monday.

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the death, which is the 104th traffic-related fatality this year in its jurisdiction.
